These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the TAO Translation API Service ("Service") provided by TAO ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Data Protection policies.

2. Service Description

TAO provides a context-aware translation API service featuring:

• Intelligent routing with automatic quality optimization
• Smart AI refinement for complex content
• Glossary and Control Vocabulary (GLCV) management
• Support for 100+ language pairs
• RESTful API with comprehensive documentation
• Web dashboard for management and monitoring

3. Account Registration

3.1 Eligibility

• You must be at least 16 years old to use our Service
• You must provide accurate and complete registration information
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
• One person or legal entity may maintain no more than one free account

4. Billing and Payment

4.1 Subscription Terms

• Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance
• All prices are in USD unless otherwise specified
• Payments are processed by our payment provider, Paddle
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
• Character allowances reset monthly and do not roll over

4.2 Top-Up Packages

Additional one-time character packages available:

• Refresh Pack: $10 for 5,000,000 characters (valid 30 days)
• Big Pack: $50 for 25,000,000 characters (valid 60 days, 20% savings)
• Mega Pack: $100 for 52,000,000 characters (valid 90 days, 40% savings)
• Monthly allowance is consumed before top-up balance
• Top-ups do not auto-renew

4.3 Refund Policy

• We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee for new paid subscriptions
• Top-up packages are non-refundable once purchased
• Refunds for technical issues will be evaluated case-by-case
• No refunds for violations of our Terms of Service

5. Acceptable Use Policy

5.1 Permitted Use

You may use our Service for:

• Transmit viruses, malware, or malicious code

• Our API, documentation, and website are protected by copyright
• Our trademarks and logos may not be used without permission
• The translation models and algorithms are our proprietary technology

8. Privacy and Data Protection

• We process data in accordance with our Privacy Policy
• We comply with GDPR and other applicable data protection laws
• Translation history is retained for 30 days by default
• You can request data deletion at any time
• We implement industry-standard security measures

9. Service Level and Support

• We target 99.9% uptime for the API service
• Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TAO, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

12.1 By You

• You may cancel your subscription at any time
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• You may delete your account through the dashboard

12.2 By Us

• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms
• We may terminate service with 30 days notice for any reason
• Immediate termination may occur for severe violations

12.3 Effect of Termination

• Access to the Service will cease immediately
• You may export your data before termination
• We may delete your data 90 days after termination
• Provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified via email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

14. Governing Law
